Campsites
There are more and more campsites on the farm, often lost but so charming! It is often possible to rent a caravan, a pod (sort of small wooden hut) or a mobile home for the night. Wild camping is well accepted in rural areas, provided you ask permission from the owner of the land. There are very variable prices from one campsite to another. You can count £ 15-30 for 2 with tent and car.
Youth hostels
Britain is among the countries that hold the world record for Youth Hostels density (indicated by brown signs). Generally comfortable, Youth Hostels are sometimes located in large mansions, even castles. The international Youth Hostels card is not mandatory, but members receive a discount per night. You can sleep there whatever your age and family. Overall, count £ 15-25 a night per person for members, excluding breakfast. Some hostels have double or family rooms, with beds most often bunkbeds. Sheets and blankets are normally included in the price. Some establishments also do camping. Most of the Youth Hostels are well equipped, with kitchen available or restaurants, wifi, laundry, etc. We strongly recommend you to book because some Youth Hostels are popular and fill up quickly.
University homes
From mid-June to September, the universities rent the rooms of students going on vacation. Attention, it is quickly complete, so book it as soon as possible (especially on the prestigious campuses of Oxford and Cambridge, the latter also hosting many conferences). Interesting formula for extended stays and organized in advance.
Self-catering
These are furnished lodgings or apartments, a nice option with family or friends, also cheaper because you can do it! Tourist offices always have a list of these accommodations.
Bed & Breakfast (B & B)
Cheaper than hotels and of a comfort often equivalent, the B & B allows to lodge at the inhabitant. A good way to deepen your knowledge of the British mentality and language! The price of the room always includes the breakfast (most often full English). Guesthouses are also B & B, but with more rooms. In the depths of the countryside, some farmhouses are B & B.
